Backups are Important for all kinds of disaster recovery

Taking regular and complete backups on a reliable backup media is the most important aspect of any disaster recovery strategy of a computer user. And if it is done in such a manner that data is completely safe from virus attack, then there is nothing which is better than that. After all loss of even a single pivotal file could mean a major risk to your life, especially the professional life. It is the biggest trouble that a computer user could possibly be exposed to. And to combat the effects of such problem, a user must take backups using efficient backup software.

Considering the entire gamut of computer data loss situations, one can broadly divide them into: data files getting lost or inaccessible; data getting deleted; and data files getting corrupt or damaged. Let us understand the two problems in detail.

Data getting lost, or File Inaccessible: Such situations generally occur when the files are safe on the computer at the place you saved, but, due to some problem, like, system crash, OS malfunction, partition corruption, virus attack or something similar, you are finding it hard to approach them.

Data file getting deleted: You mistakenly hard delete a crucial file, by pressing the 'shift' key while deleting, or clicking 'delete' instead of 'recover' after selecting a file in the recycle bin, or deleting it along with some unimportant files from the recycle bin. These are some accidental situations that can hamper any computer users work. Other file deletion situations include formatting of the hard drive, partition deletion, and virus infection.

Data file getting corrupt: If files get corrupt, then you will be able to see the file, click it, but may not be able to open it, or may be able to open it, but the data saved in it may not appear, and you'll see garbled text, or empty boxes. These problems may occur due to viruses, improper shutdown of the system, breakdown of the operating system, and malfunctioning of some application.

To handle any of the above stated problems, one has to rely on data backups. A large number of data backup software are available for users today. One common feature with these backup software is that they make the job of taking and maintaining backups completely automatic.
