Thanks to PeterRollar of DevianART , who put ups their hard time and effort for making this Windows 8 Release preview kit, Download it from here.
The changes include:
- W8 Boarder Skin
- Ribbons For Explorer
- System Tray and Task bar
- Boot Screen
- Start Menu
- Wallpapers
- Cursors
Here are the steps:
Once you downloaded the Windows 8 Release Preview kit, follow the below mentioned steps:
1. Extract the RAR file using Winzip or 7-Zip.
2. Navigate to folder 'BorderSkin CP' and run BorderSkin.exe for making XP borders like
Windows 8
3. Look for the Styler toolbars folder and install Styler for making the Ribbon user interface
explorer like Windows 8
4. For making cursor for XP as same to Windows 8 cursor, you can simply click on .inf file
contained in the 'Cursor' folder from the downloaded pack. Though, you've to use your
control panel settings to change cursor appearance
5. Install Sbar from the same downloaded package to get Windows 8 taskbar. Once you are
done with installing the Sbar, you need to apply the skin present in the 'Basic for Sbar'
from the download kit.
6. Download Tuneup Utilities to modify the boot screen from XP to Windows 8. For this, the
package contains the folder named 'Tuneup BootScreen'
7. Separately install each application contained in the separate folder, such as: ViStart,
Wallpapers etc.
8. Even after following all the above steps, Windows XP will be shown as a 'Currently
installed version'. So, if you want to show Windows 8 here, you need to go a bit deeply.
Replace the system file xpsp1res.dll from the System 32 folder with new dll file present
in the 'Version Info W8 RP'.
That's it. You are done with making this transition and now ready to enjoy playing with Windows 8. If you have some other tool or some easy tips for making this transitions, please post it using your comment in the below section.
